There has been a water main break on Hwy 100. Crews are working on salting the area due to ice. We strongly advise avoiding this area or use extreme caution to ensure the safety of drivers and working crews throughout the day. There will be only one lane of traffic from Washington Street to Walker Street going northbound. The repair is expected to be completed by 6 p.m., but the road will likely be closed through Wednesday, Feb. 19 to allow for road repairs.

A snow emergency has been declared starting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12 until 6 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. Snow emergency parking rules and regulations will be in place during this time. Regular garbage and recycling collection is scheduled to be serviced for Feb. 12 and Feb. 13. The Municipal Yard drop-off will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12 so crews can assist with storm-related duties.
We are expecting up to 9 inches of snow for our area with the heaviest accumulation occurring from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. During the storm, crews periodically go from their main thoroughfare routes into the residential street sections to clear a driving lane for vehicle accessibility. As a reminder, this will not be curb-to-curb plowing at that time. Late this evening, near the end of the storm, a full plow operation will be initiated for all residential streets, alleys, sidewalks, safety islands, parking lots, etc. in the public right-of-way.
How to Park During Snow Emergencies
During the snow emergency, alternate side parking will be in effect between 12 a.m. midnight until 3 p.m. until the end of the snow emergency so plows can clear both sides of the street. As such:
- If the previous day was an even-numbered date (Jan. 2, 4, 6, etc.), park on the EVEN side of the street from midnight until 2:59 p.m.
- If the previous day was an odd-numbered date (Jan. 1, 3, 5, etc.), park on the ODD side of the street from midnight until 2:59 p.m.
- Park on EITHER side of the street between 3 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. following all posted parking signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed without notice.
- "No Parking" signs on streets remain in effect regardless of snow emergencies.
- Nighttime parking e-permits are still required.
Main Thoroughfare Streets
During the declared snow emergency time frame, there are:
- No street parking allowed on main thoroughfare streets during the duration of the snow emergency.
- Any illegally parked vehicles can be towed without notice.
- Main thoroughfare streets shall consist of the major traffic, mass transit, and emergency vehicle routes in the City of West Allis.

Weather Alert - The Municipal Yard drop-off will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 12 due to the forecasted weather so personnel can assist with storm-related duties. As of 3:30 p.m., garbage and recycling routes are not canceled for tomorrow, Feb. 12. Stay tuned for further updates.

There has been a water main break at 1820 S. 73rd St. The road will be closed from National to Burnham until 3 p.m today, Feb. 11, for repairs. Approximately 30 homes will be without water during this time.

Join us for a follow-up meeting to continue the conversation about civic engagement, social capital, and philanthropic investment in West Allis on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Dorow Hall at West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation & Community Services (2450 S. 68th St.)!
The group will continue the conversation on:
- Creating and maintaining a centralized hub of publicly accessible community resources, volunteer opportunities, and events.
- Building a collective of non-profit human service organizations and community service groups to share resources, best practices, mutual support, challenges, and opportunities to collaborate.
- Developing ideas for marketing and promotion opportunities, which may include a welcome bag initiative for new residents and/or building stronger relationships with the business community.
