Starting in May, WisDOT will begin reconstructing a 300-foot section at the Beloit Road railroad crossing and permanently remove the 55th Street crossing. The new Beloit Road signal equipment that will be installed cannot accommodate the closely spaced crossings found at Beloit Road, 60th Street, 57th Street, and 55th Street. Due to this, 55th Street will no longer go through the railroad crossing. Instead, moving forward, cars must turn on Mobile Street to cross at 57th Street, Electric Avenue, Beloit Road or 60th Street. Learn more about this project on the City website News section.
