The City of West Allis is sharing an update from Milwaukee Water Works, which supplies drinking water — including fluoride.

Due to national supply chain challenges affecting fluoride treatment additives, Milwaukee Water Works will temporarily reduce fluoride levels beginning Friday, July 31. This reduction will remain in place until a new supplier is secured later this year.

West Allis residents can be assured that our drinking water remains safe and continues to meet all state and federal water quality standards. This change affects only fluoride levels and does not impact overall water safety.

Fluoride is added to help prevent tooth decay, and while levels will be temporarily lower than usual, most residents do not need to adjust their oral health routines. Anyone with specific dental or health questions should consult their care provider.
