Fair Housing

The Fair Housing Board works to ensure equal housing opportunities for all City of West Allis residents. The Board also promotes Fair Housing throughout the community to businesses, housing providers and real estate professionals, with awareness programs like the Fair Housing Poster Contest and proactive educational materials. The Board processes all claims of discrimination in housing and is responsible for receiving, investigating and eliminating or remedying discrimination by means of conciliation, persuasion, education or litigation.

2019 Fair Housing Contest

The month of April is designated as Fair Housing Month, to commemorate Congress passing the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which includes the Fair Housing Act. To celebrate this significant movement in our history, the Community Development Authority of the City of West Allis is sponsoring a Fair Housing Poster, Essay, and Video Contest. The purpose of the contest is to demonstrate non-discriminatory housing for all people regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, disability, or family status.

The theme for the 2019 contest is:
"The Houses and People on my Street"
