National Ave. Public Involvement Meeting Feb. 21

You are invited to attend a public involvement meeting being conducted by the City of West Allis Engineering Department and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to present and discuss the traffic control and temporary access impacts that will occur as part of the upcoming reconstruction of W. National Avenue between S. 76th Street and S. 70th Street. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb., 21, 2018 from 5 - 7 p.m. at West Allis City Hall, Council Chambers, located at 7525 W. Greenfield Avenue, West Allis, Wisconsin.

The West Allis Health Department will be hosting two classes on infant massage on Tuesday, Feb. 27, and Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 10 - 11 a.m., at the West Allis Health Department, 7120 W. National Ave.

Love and Logic Parent

Parenting Classes Enrolling at West Allis Health Department

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent is a six-week highly regarded national parenting program that incorporates discussion and videos. Parents learn how to share control, give kids choices, and communicate to reduce power struggles. This program is effective for parents of toddlers to teens. 

The training sessions will occur every Wednesday night starting March 7 through April 11, from 6 - 7:45 p.m. at the West Allis Public Library, 7421 W. National Ave.

Living Well w Chronic Conditions

Living Well with Chronic Conditions Class from West Allis Health Department

Developed by Stanford University, this six-week workshop helps participants gain control of their lives through manageable action plans and support from peers. 

Program topics include:

  • Dealing with frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation.
  • Exercise for maintaining strength, flexibility, and endurance.
  • Appropriate use of medications.
  • Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals.
  • Evaluating new treatment options. 
  • Healthy eating

The program will be held on Tuesdays, starting March 20 through April 24, from 1 - 3:30 p.m. at Library Square, 1820 S. 75th St.
