Dog Park

Dog Park Project Update

Over 60 residents attended the City's dog park community conversation on Thursday, Oct. 26. In this meeting, residents, Mayor Dan Devine, and Steve Schaer of the Department of Development discussed locations, concerns, fundraising options, and next steps to creating a dog park in West Allis. Here's what you need to know:

  • Nothing has been decided yet. Location, design, fee structure, amenities - all of the components of this project are only in the discussion phase.
  • Proposed locations include: 76th and Hicks; Honey Creek Park at 84th and National; behind the West Allis Police Department station on Lincoln Ave.; and several other City locations. View proposed locations here.
  • Milwaukee County Parks, which include McCarty Park, Greenfield Park, LaFollette, and Rainbow Parks, cannot be used for this project. These parks are owned by the Milwaukee County Park system, which does not have plans or funds to build a dog park on these properties in West Allis.
  • Resident feedback, including suggestions for locations and concerns about a dog park, are still being accepted at our website.
  • Residents who are interested in volunteering or donating to the project can fill out our online form to express interest. These residents will be contacted shortly regarding next steps.
