Don't Miss National Night Out on July 24

Don't miss the fun of this year's National Night Out! This free community event is sponsored by the West Allis Police Department and will take place at the West Allis Farmers Market, 6501 W. National Ave.

Enjoy a health fair, carnival games, raffles, face painting, concessions, inflatables and more at this free, family-friendly event. The first 75 children in attendance that reside in West Allis or West Milwaukee will receive a FREE bike helmet, courtesy of Gruber Law Offices

On July 25, neighborhood block parties will keep the National Night Out fun going strong. Ask your neighborhood association for more information about events in your neighborhood.

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs down to Veterans' Memorial Park for fun, free summer band concerts, Thursdays through July 27. Enjoy family-friendly music from a variety of genres, including polka, jazz, dixieland, and pop. These concerts are free and all are welcome!

Mayors Challenge 2017

Get Moving with the Mayor's Challenge and Win!

Join Mayor Devine and the West Allis/West Milwaukee Healthy Lifestyles Coalition in the 4th annual West Allis Moves 30-A-Day activity challenge. The goal is to get 1,000 people moving for 30 minutes a day for most days over a month long period. If you are already moving, please join us!

  • Challenge began July 10, but registration is extended through July 21. The challenge ends August 14. You can still join in the fun!
  • The first 300 registrants who complete the challenge will receive a FREE t-shirt.
  • All registrants that complete the Mayor's Challenge will be entered to win a FitBit. One lucky winner will win!
  • Join fellow challenge participants and walk with the Mayor for your chance to win prizes! A Wisconsin Athletic Club family membership and pair of tickets to the Wisconsin State Fair will be awarded to two lucky walkers at each neighborhood walk. Meet the Mayor at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:
    • July 17 - Liberty Heights. Meet at the picnic gazebo near 61st and Orchard St.
    • July 31 - Senior Center. Meet in the parking lot of the West Allis Senior Center, 7001 W. National Ave.

AARP Driver Safety

AARP Driver Safety Course at West Allis Health Department

Seniors are invited to take the new AARP Smart Driver Course to refresh driving skills and learn the new rules of the road, plus learn strategies to stay safe behind the wheel. This class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, payable the day of the class to AARP. Class will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at the West Allis Senior Center, 7001 W. National Ave. Call 414-302-8700 to register.

CAAD BBQ and Swim Night

Family Fun at CAAD Swim And BBQ Night

The Community Alliance Against Drugs (CAAD) will host an all-ages Swim and BBQ Night at McCarty Park, 8214 W Cleveland Ave., on Friday, August 11. The fun begins at 5 p.m. with a cookout dinner of hot dogs, chips, and drinks, followed by swimming in the McCarty Park pool from 6 - 8 p.m.

MKE Food Truck Tour

Food Trucks Roll Back In July 19

If you missed the June stop of the Traveling Food Truck Tour, you can still catch the trucks this summer. 

The first visit of the MKE Traveling Food Truck Tour on June 7 was a smash success. Vendors included Lumpia City, Double B's Timber's BBQ, Little Havana Express, and much more. In addition to a great variety of food trucks, the Tour offers music, craft beer, and more. See you at the Farmers Market when the Food Trucks return on July 19!
