July 4th Celebration

Celebrate Independence Day with the City of West Allis

The annual Independence Day Parade steps off at 3 p.m.on Sunday, July 2 from 77th & Greenfield Ave. and ends at 70th & National Ave. The theme for this year's celebration is "Proud to be an American...United We Stand." Youth Judging (coaster wagon, costume, bicycle competition) begins at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall and is open to children 12 years and younger. The Post-Parade Celebration follows the parade at 4 p.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park, 70th & National Ave., with entertainment, music, children's activities and more.

On July 4, head to Wisconsin State Fair Park for the 8:30 p.m. Grandstand Show featuring Eric "Diamond" Productions, followed by the Fireworks Spectacular at 9:30 p.m. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Summer Band Concerts Thursdays This Summer

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs down to Veterans' Memorial Park for fun, free summer band concerts, Thursdays through July 27. Enjoy family-friendly music from a variety of genres, including polka, jazz, dixieland, and pop. These concerts are free and all are welcome!


Mayors Challenge 2017

Get Moving with the Mayor's Challenge and Win!

Join Mayor Devine and the West Allis/West Milwaukee Healthy Lifestyles Coalition in the 4th annual West Allis Moves 30-A-Day activity challenge. The goal is to get 1,000 residents moving for 30 minutes a day for most days over a month long period. If you are already moving, please join us!

  • Challenge begins July 10 and ends August 14.
  • The first 300 registrants who complete the challenge will receive a FREE t-shirt.
  • All registrants that complete the Mayor's Challenge will be entered to win a FitBit. One lucky winner will win!
  • Join fellow challenge participants and walk with the Mayor for your chance to win prizes! A Wisconsin Athletic Club family membership and pair of tickets to the Wisconsin State Fair will be awarded to two lucky walkers at each neighborhood walk. Meet the Mayor at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:
    • July 10 - Rainbow Park. Meet at the north parking lot of Walker Elementary School.
    • July 17 - Liberty Heights. Meet at the picnic gazebo near 61st and Orchard St.
    • July 31 - Senior Center. Meet in the parking lot of the West Allis Senior Center, 7001 W. National Ave.

Loving Touch

Loving Touch Infant Massage Class at West Allis Health Department

Infant massage begins a loving communication between parents and child, helps to strengthen and regulate the baby’s primary body systems, reduces gas and colic, and allows the baby to sleep better. Massage also helps the baby and parents to relax, increases parents' confidence and handling skills, and provides a way to develop quality interaction time between baby and parents. Learn infant massage techniques at the West Allis Health Department this July.

This session includes two classes: part one on Tuesday July 25 at 10 a.m. and part two on Wednesday July 26. Both classes are from 10 - 11 a.m. 

Payment will be collected at the first class. Fees for West Allis-West Milwaukee residents are $10.00. Non-resident fees are $20.

Bring a blanket or mat for your baby to lie on as classes are held sitting on the floor. Dress your baby in clothes that are easy to remove.

One baby per adult registered. Babies must be 6 months of age or younger.

Class sizes are limited - register today. 


MKE Food Truck Tour

Food Trucks Roll Back In July 19

If you missed the June stop of the MilwaukeeFood.com Traveling Food Truck Tour, you can still catch the trucks this summer. 

The first visit of the MKE Traveling Food Truck Tour on June 7 was a smash success. Vendors included Lumpia City, Double B's Timber's BBQ, Little Havana Express, and much more. In addition to a great variety of food trucks, the Tour offers music, craft beer, and more. See you at the Farmers Market when the Food Trucks return on July 19!


National Night Out

Don't miss the fun of this year's National Night Out! This free community event is sponsored by the West Allis Police Department and will take place at the West Allis Farmers Market, 6501 W. National Ave.

Enjoy a health fair, carnival games, raffles, face painting, concessions, inflatables and more at this free, family-friendly event. The first 75 children in attendance will receive a FREE bike helmet, courtesy of Gruber Law Offices
