Annual Reports

The City prepares a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) each year, which includes an Independent Auditor's Report. The CAFR is typically released by June 30th of each year. View the most recent CAFR here. View the online archive of CAFRs here.

The City is required to have an annual audit each year per Wisconsin State statutes and as an issuer of municipal bonds. During the audit, the City's financial records and internal controls are reviewed and tested and the financial statements are formally prepared and reviewed. The CAFR includes the City's financial statements to provide information regarding the financial position of the City and the results of operations, as well as various statistical information and narrative analysis.

City of West Allis Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City's CAFR has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the last fifteen years from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). Receipt of this prestigious award indicates that the City has published an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR which satisfies generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements in an effort to enhance transparency and provide full disclosure.
