Dog & Cat Licenses

Dogs and cats are required to be licensed in the City of West Allis. 

Cats: Any person owning, keeping or harboring a cat more than five months of age on January 1 of each year, shall annually or within thirty days from the date such cat becomes five months of age, pay, in a manner provided by the City Treasurer, a cat license fee and obtain a license for such cat. Dogs Any person owning, keeping or harboring a dog more than five months of age on January 1 of any year, shall annually, or within thirty days from date such dog becomes five months of age, pay in a manner provided by the City Treasurer, a dog license fee in obtaining a license for such dog. ANIMAL FANCIER PERMIT

Animal Fancier is any person in a residential dwelling unit who shall keep, harbor, raise or possess any combination of more than two (2) dogs over the age of five months and/or four cats over the age of five months, to a maximum of four dogs and/or six cats. Due date for obtaining your pet’s license is March 31 of every year. The fee for spayed/neutered pets is $12, and the fee for unaltered pets is $24. If the license is not applied for by March 31, there will be an additional late fee of $6 or $12 based on whether your pet is spayed/neutered.

Please provide a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate and neutered/spayed documentation when applying for the license for your dog or cat. 

DOG PARK pass

For the year 2021, the dog park passes are $5 per day or $25 per calendar year for residents and $5 per day or $50 per calendar year for non-residents. Prices are per dog. 

You must provide proof that your dog is neutered or spayed before you can purchase a dog park pass. Proof of current rabies vaccination is also required.

  • Enter your email, password, name, and phone number        
    • The phone number will be used to verify the account
  • Log in to MyGovernmentOnline
  • Hover over “Permits and Licensing” and click “Apply Online” 
  • Double check that "Country", "State", and "Jurisdiction" are correct.  Click the drop down and choose “Pet License” 
  • Click “next”
  • Click “Get Started on a New Application”
  • Click the drop down and choose the required license.  Then click “next”
  • Type in your address and click “next”
  • Fill out required Owner information
  • Select the “Category,” “Type,” and “Calculation.”  Click “add” then “next”
  • Fill out the required pet information 
  • Attach any paperwork then click “next”
  • Double check the fee is correct and click “Pay Now”
  • Fill out the correct billing information then click “Pay Now”

Pet licenses and dog park passes are available for purchase in-person at the City Hall Customer Service Center from 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
