staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines

Being up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines ensures you have the best protection possible against severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Learn what it means to be up to date on your vaccines.

You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you get all recommended doses in your primary series of COVID-19 vaccines.

To be up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines, you will need to be fully vaccinated and get a booster dose when eligible.

  • The primary series includes two doses of Moderna or Pfizer or one dose of Johnson & Johnson. Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are preferred over Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine in most situations(link is externa.
  • Everyone 12 years and older should get one booster dose to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines and boost protection against COVID-19. Some individuals can choose to get a second booster dose, but getting a second booster is not required to be considered up to date.
