The City of West Allis Artscape Committee provided a grant to West Allis Public Library for the creation of four book benches outside the Library.
The concrete benches are shaped like big, open books and were painted by local artists. Library staff brainstormed a list of potential themes for each bench and voted to select the themes that would guide each artist. The themes and artists were:
Erico Ortiz, owner of Inspiration Studios art gallery and theatre in West Allis, painted the children’s bench. Learn more about Erico.
Keighley Sadler, local artist, illustrator, and bumblebee enthusiast, painted the garden bench. Learn more about Keighley.
Pete Silva III, local artist and tattoo artist at Rockstar Tattoo & Co. in West Allis, painted the dragon-themed fantasy/adventure bench. Learn more about Pete.
