West Allis Independence Day activities
independence day parade and celebration
Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 7 p.m.
The West Allis Independence Parade is an annual holiday tradition and brings in about 6,000 attendees each year. Enjoy floats, marching bands vehicles, other exciting features and, of course, Bucky Badger and the University of Wisconsin Marching Band!
The parade marshaling area is at the intersection of 77th Street and Greenfield Avenue. All groups should report no later than 6:30 p.m. Parade Line-Up will be emailed approximately one week prior to the parade and will be posted at www.westalliswi.gov/independenceday. We recommend when you arrive to please see one of the parade marshals to confirm your parade lineup number. Please Note: For safety purposes, no motor vehicles will be allowed on 77th Street. ALL motorized vehicles will be marshaled on Greenfield Avenue at 77th Street going west and should report to this area beginning at 6:15 p.m. ALL marching/walking units will be marshaled on 77th St. north of Greenfield Ave. All groups must be ready to begin/perform at 6:45 p.m.
The parade will proceed from 77th St. down Greenfield Avenue to 70th Street. The parade then will proceed south on 70th St. and end at 70th & Orchard (Vet’s Park). In order to keep the flow of the parade and avoid gaps, we ask that you do not stop to perform but instead continually perform throughout the parade route. The parade will be recorded by the City of West Allis.
Post Parade celebration
All parade participants and attendees are invited to our Post Parade event. The Post Parade Celebration will follow the parade and will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park on 70th Street, just south of Greenfield Avenue. These events, which shall include food, free ice cream, entertainment, music, children’s activities, etc., will occur immediately following the parade until 9:30 pm. We hope you join us! There is no rain date for the post parade celebration.
