Clerk's Office

The mission of the City Clerk's Office is to furnish the best possible service to the resident, Common Council, and to the staff of the City of West Allis, while carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the office of the City Clerk as required by Wisconsin State Statutes, City Ordinances and Common Council Resolutions. The City Clerk Office is often a citizen's first point of contact with City Hall.

The City Clerk's Office

  • Coordinates and oversees the election process
  • Issues and administers business licenses
  • Issues and administers pet licenses
  • Supports the Common Council and its committees
  • Maintains the Revised Municipal Code
  • Open Records Request (Public Records)

The Clerk's Office provides the agendas and records the minutes for the Advisory Committee, the License and Health Committee, the Capital Improvement Committee, and the Committee of the Whole. The Clerk's Office is directly responsible for and provides staff support for the Administrative Appeals Board, the Board of Review, the Ethics Board and the Board of Canvassers.
