WAPD THINK Program (2008)

The City of West Allis Police Department developed a THINK program which has been taught in the 5th and 6th grade classrooms. The THINK program is being used in lieu of the D.A.R.E. program and was designed as a character-building program about understanding yourself and thinking about how choices affect you, your family, and your friends and how these choices could ultimately impact your life. THINK stands for:

Take a look at your choices.
How will this choice affect my family, my friends and me?
Intelligence, use your head!
Never be afraid to be different or to say "NO".
Keep on learning for your choice good or bad.

The THINK program is easily transferred to other Police Departments' community based programming. The program has been extremely successful and teacher evaluations have been very positive
