2014 Fall Yard Waste Collection
Residents may place yard waste materials such as flowers, vines, weeds, thatch, garden debris and leaves into the curb line of the street for collection from Sunday, September 14, through Sunday, November 9, 2014. **Extensions may be granted contingent on favorable weather conditions for yard waste collection.**  Do not place materials in the curb line at any other time.

• Do not place materials for collection in drainage ditches, alleys, refuse containers, ash boxes or piles in your yard or driveway. Rake them into the street along the curb line forming a windrow (long low pile).
• If you do not have a curb on your street, place your materials along the roadway in a windrow.
• Open air burning of yard waste is not permitted in West Allis.
• To help prevent materials from blowing around, wet them down.
• Do not park vehicles along the curb line near or over yard waste piles.
• Do not place brush, woody plants and grass clippings in the yard waste windrows.
• Remove pots and soil from plants before placing in the curb line.

Help City workers help you! Following the above guidelines will provide residents of West Allis with better, faster and more efficient yard waste collection service! If you have any questions about this collection service, feel free to call the Sanitation and Street Division at 302-8800, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Sanitation Section is responsible for the collection of refuse from one through three family residences and recyclables from one through four family residences. Properties are serviced from either a curbside location or an alley location.

Junk mail kits are available to help reduce the amount of unwanted junk mail you receive. Each kit contains three cards to mail which will result in removal of your name from certain mailings lists and phone numbers to call to stop receiving pre-approved credit card offers and to remove your name from mailing brokers' lists. Junk mail kits are available at City Hall, the Library, Municipal Yard and Police Department.

Information regarding refuse collection can be found in Section 7.05 of the Revised Municipal Code and information regarding recycling can be found in Section 7.051 of the Revised Municipal Code.
