The children's department offers preschool story times designed for children ages 3, 4 or 5 years old. Programs are 30 minutes or 45 minutes long with a craft or video. The adult who brings the child may choose to attend or not attend story time but must remain  in the library during the session. Siblings younger than age 3 are welcome to story time with an adult caretaker.

Toddler programs for 2 year olds, Lapsit programs for ages 9 months through 23 months and Evening Story Time for ages 3 and under are designed for children with an adult caretaker. Sessions are 30 minutes and the last 10 minutes of each program consists of playtime with age appropriate toys. Adults are active participants as they interact one-on-one with their child. Siblings are welcome to all story times.

Register for story times in person or call 302-8502. All story times at the West Allis Public Library are free to Milwaukee County residents. Registrations are accepted the month before each story time session. You may register in person at the children's information desk or by calling 302-8502.
