Events, activities, and fun for everyone
The City of West Allis hosts many festivals, celebrations, parades, and events throughout the year, and we invite residents and visitors to join us! Learn more below or download our 2017 events brochure.

Memorial Day Observance - May
Memorial Day Parade
Each year, a Memorial Day Program supported by the City of West Allis and coordinated by The Allied Veterans' Organizations of West Allis takes place each at Veterans’ Memorial Park at South 69th St. and W. National Ave. The program begins with a parade, followed by a memorial service. Join us as we honor and remember. Check our home page news and calendar each May for more details.

West Allis A La Carte - June
A la Carte
Come hungry to this one! West Allis A La Carte is a street festival along Greenfield Ave. from 70th St. to 76th St. held on the first Sunday in June to showcase the Downtown West Allis business district and bring the West Allis community together for food, music, fun and games. Dozens of food vendors, craft beer, and live entertainment offer something for everyone. Don't miss the popular Animal Avenue, where you can meet some new furry friends, and the mini-farmers market, offering fresh produce and honey for sale. West Allis A La Carte is organized by the Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District. 

Summer Band Concerts - June through August
Summer Band Concerts
Summer Band Concerts, sponsored by West Allis businesses, are held on Thursday evenings throughout the summer (weather permitting).  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy these free, family-friendly concerts, featuring a variety of performers playing many different genres of music. Check our home page news and calendar each summer for specific dates and list of performers. 

Independence Day Fireworks & Parade - July
Independence Day
West Allis goes all out for Independence Day and makes the celebration last for days. The Independence Day Youth Judging Competition allow children 12 and under to show their patriotic pride by decorating bikes, coaster wagons, doll strollers, and creating their own patriotic costumes to show off the red, white, and blue. The Independence Day parade starts at 77th St. and Greenfield Ave. and proceeds to Veterans' Park at 70th St. and National Ave., where post parade entertainment including music and games provides fun for all ages.  The Grandstand Show, featuring live music, and fireworks display caps off the celebration at State Fair Park. National Night Out - July
National Night Out
National Night Out is an annual crime prevention event sponsored by Aurora West Allis Medical Center. National Night Out aims to strengthen communities by providing crime and drug use prevention awareness. Join us for the community festival, held at the West Allis Farmers Market, with games, food, face painting, inflatables, music, and fun for the whole family. The next day, neighborhoods throughout West Allis host block parties on their streets to unite neighbors and celebrate community spirit. Wisconsin State Fair - August
State Fair CPR Training
Since the late 1800s, West Allis has hosted the Wisconsin State Fair each August. The Wisconsin State Fair grounds lie in both West Allis and Milwaukee, and are operated by the State Fair Board of Directors. More information about these eleven days of summer fun can be found on the State Fair website.

Settlers Weekend - August
Settlers Weekend
Organized by the City of West Allis Historical Commission and held at the Historical Society Grounds at 84th St. and National Ave., this annual event highlights the history of West Allis and the United States prior to 1906, the year West Allis became a City. Visit with Abraham Lincoln, trappers, and Civil War re-enactors. Enjoy food, entertainment, local craftspeople, and the 1848 log schoolhouse. Admission and parking are free. More information is available on the Historical Society's website.

Classic Car Show - October
Classic Car Show
Held annually in October by the Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District along Greenfield Avenue, the car show features over 350 classic cars, races, music, food and games the first Sunday in October from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. ! The show takes place on Greenfield Ave. from 70th St. to 76th St. and adjacent side streets. For more information, visit the Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District website.


Trick or Treat and Halloween Hunt - October
Meet n Treat pumpkin
Trick or treat will be held in West Allis on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to light their porch/post light if they are participating in trick or treat. Check the City calendar for more details. The Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District will hold its Downtown Halloween Hunt along Greenfield Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. - noon. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume for Halloween treats from participating Downtown West Allis merchants. Christmas on the Avenue, Tree Lighting Ceremony & Christmas Parade - December

On the first Saturday of December, the holiday season in West Allis is kicked off with Christmas on the Avenue along Greenfield Avenue between 76th St. and 70th St.  Events include ice sculpting, music, games, Breakfast With Santa and a craft fair.  Christmas on the Avenue is organized by the Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District. Check their BID website for information about this year's event.

At the end of the day, watch the the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Centennial Plaza, 7525 W. Greenfield Ave., followed by the West Allis Christmas Parade down Greenfield Ave. from the State Fair Park to 66th St.  Enjoy the only night time Christmas parade in Milwaukee! The parade is sponsored by the Christmas Parade subcommittee of the West Allis Celebrations committee.
