The West Allis Senior Center offers many classes, events, and activities to keep seniors active. View the Senior Center events calendar to see what's coming up next.

Arts, Crafts, and Music
Folk Dancing at Senior Center
A variety of classes and activities are offered each week to inspire creativity and help seniors strengthen their artistic skills or develop new ones, including:
  • Acrylic painting
  • Quilting
  • Knitting and crochet
  • Stained glass making
  • Folk dancing
  • Adult coloring
  • Card making
  • Nightingale Sing A Long group

Fitness, Games, and Recreation
Fitness Program
The West Allis Senior Center also offers older adults many health and wellness programs including an Arthritis Exercise Class, Living Well with Chronic Conditions Workshops, and a weekly Weight Loss/Healthy Eating program.

The Senior Center’s fitness program has treadmills, recumbent bicycles, Keiser pneumatic weight equipment and Nu-Step machines. Members must receive authorization from their physicians to use this equipment. An orientation is provided to ensure safe use of the fitness center.

We also offer fun, relaxing games and fitness classes to help seniors stay connected and active, including:
  • Chair yoga
  • Freestyle dancing
  • Pocket billiards
  • Bowling
  • Wii® bowling
  • Sheepshead
  • Computer games

Technology
The West Allis Senior Center provides a state of the art computer lab staffed with helpful, patient volunteers who are glad to help seniors enhance their computer skills. Seniors can explore social media, digital photography and videography, email and online services, and Windows operating systems in our lab.

Senior Nutrition Programs
The West Allis Senior Center is a meal site for the Milwaukee County Senior Dining Program.

In addition, we offer free bread and baked goods for our members through the generous donations of Food for the Hungry, which provides these items to supplement seniors' nutritional needs.

The Senior Center is also a pick-up point for the Hunger Task Force's Stockbox program.

Walk with Ease
  • Class Fee: $20 (checks payable to City of West Allis)
  • Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, Sept. 11 - Oct. 20
  • 9 - 10 a.m.
  • Held at the West Allis Senior Center
  • Adults of any age welcome
Walk with Ease is designed to help people living with arthritis better manage their pain, but it's also ideal for people without arthritis who want to make walking a regular habit. Classes are one hour each, three times per week for six weeks.

Living Well with Chronic Conditions
  • Free
  • Tuesdays, Sept. 12 - Oct. 17
  • 1:30 - 4 p.m.
  • Held at the West Allis Senior Center
  • Adults of any age welcome
Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a six week workshop that helps participants with chronic health conditions gain control of their lives through manageable action plans and support from peers.

Eat Better, Move More
  • Class fee: $20 (checks payable to City of West Allis). Includes step counter and exercise band.
  • Tuesdays, Sept. 19 - Nov. 14
  • 9 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Open to adults age 55+
  • Held at West Allis Senior Center
Improve your eating habits and increase your fitness level with Eat Better, Move More. This 9 week nutrition and physical activity program is a fun way to explore weekly nutrition and exercise topics, and learn easy-to-do exercise that you can try at home.
